32m tonnes of CO2 saved with AkzoNobel marine coating

AkzoNobel has said that ship owners and operators using its Intersleek biocide-free marine coatings have achieved combined fuel savings up to US $3 billion.

  • Over 5,500 vessels have been coated with Intersleek, since the technology was introduced 21 years ago.
  • During this time 32 million tonnes of CO2 and 10 million tonnes of fuel have been saved claims AkzoNobel.
  • The results are based on each previous fuel consumption and emissions using a previous hull coating system.
