Statoil has entered into an agreement with Skangas for the provision of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for Statoil’s platform supply vessels (PSVs) and tugs.
Skangas will deliver the LNG fuel from the LNG plant in Risavika, Tananger, Norway to a number of locations including Kårstø, Mongstad, Florø, and Kristiansund along the Norwegian west coast. Skangas’ new LNG feeder and bunker ship, Coralius, will deliver the LNG fuel, which has been optimised for safe and reliable bunkering.
The move to LNG is part of the Norwegian initiative to move the transportation of goods from the roads to the sea and to help reduce the emission of harmful pollutants including sulphur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter. By supplying the LNG, Skangas is helping their customer to reach their goals of being the most carbon effective company.
Coralius is expected to begin delivering the LNG fuel in spring 2017.
