ABS has published its Advisory on Hybrid Electric Power Systems that gives ship owners and operators the need-to-know information on energy generation and storage.
- Advisory addresses the latest hybrid electric power technologies and the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of such technologies.
- List of technologies include lithium-ion batteries supercapacitors, flywheel energy storage, fuel cells, wind and solar.
- Other sectors including electric utilities and aerospace were used to look at how nonconventional power has been applied and how this can be transferred to the maritime industry says ABS.
