AIDA Cruises takes delivery of cruise ship with integrated fuel efficiency technologies

AIDA Cruises has taken delivery of the second of two large cruise ships that has the option to use liquefied natural gas when in port.

  • AIDAperla was delivered by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to its Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works.  It is scheduled to set sail for Majorca, Spain at the beginning of May, 2017.
  • Cruise vessel is equipped with MHI’s Mitsubishi Air Lubrication System that reportedly enhances fuel efficiency.
  • It also features a pod propulsion system and a new air-conditioning system that saves on energy consumption by using waste heat.
