Carnival Maritime Drives Down In-Port Emissions

Carnival Maritime is to collaborate with Hamburg Vessel Coordination Centre (HVCC) to improve the movement of ships in the Port of Hamburg and the narrow River Elbe for enhanced fuel savings.

To increase port efficiency, Carnival Maritime will share the expected arrival and departure times of ships with the Nautische Terminal Koordination (NTK), a nautical terminal coordination department within the HVCC.

The information will be consistently monitored and matched with the current traffic situation to keep Carnival Maritime informed in regards to waiting times depending on ship’s speed, offering Carnival the chance to speed up or slow down its ships to reduce traffic or avoid obstructions.

This collaboration will not only lead to time savings and reduced waiting in port, but will also cut down on fuel consumption and therefore emissions.
