China COSCO Shipping Joins Offshore Wind Energy Venture

China COSCO Shipping and Belgian dredging, environmental and marine engineering group DEME, have joined forces to develop an offshore wind energy platform in China.

The Joint Venture aims to develop renewable energy to increase the installed capacity of offshore wind and market solutions through engineering, procurement, construction, installation and maintenance contracts.

DEME’s subsidiary, GeoSea will also be part of the Joint Venture, providing expertise in developing, building and maintaining offshore windfarms, while helping China COSCO Shipping’s ambition to enter the offshore wind market.

The partnership aims to help China reach its climate vision and aim to develop renewable energy, both of which were recently incorporated in the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) for social and economic development.
