DNV GL And Hempel Join Forces For Improved Fleet Performance

4 Dec

During Marintec trade fair, Shanghai, China, Hempel and DNV GL signed a cooperation agreement to work together to bring customers clear, comprehensible and verifiable analytics to track and assess hull and propeller performance for reduced fuel consumption and environmental impact.

DNV GL will contribute their ECO Insight hull degradation analytics, which enable customers to transparently view and access advanced data with only a few simple measurement inputs. ECO Insight uses advanced normalisation algorithms to increase analysis accuracy, also providing a clear benchmark of a ship’s performance relative to other similar ships.

The advanced analytics ECO Insight is capable of can also be used to optimise Hempel’s hull coatings, helping to save up to 10% in fuel and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In addition, the technology can tap into additional ship specific data to further customise paint specifications and proactively manage the ship once it enters service.

Christian Ottosen, Group Vice President Marine Marketing, Hempel, commented: “At Hempel we place great importance in being close to our customers and providing the best individual service. With the data analysed by DNV GL, we will be able to optimise our customers’ fuel performance, improving hull performance matching specifications precisely to individual needs and trade, dry dock intervals and technical service in dock.

This will benefit our customers and support their businesses being more efficient in their operations. So far, we have been very pleased to cooperate with DNV GL, and we look forward to working even closer with their staff from now on.”
