Dubai hosts launch of Global Council of Maritime Clusters

The Global Council of Maritime Clusters has been launched this week in Dubai.

It aims to consolidate and enhance frameworks of cooperation among maritime leaders and promote the sustainability, competitiveness, and attractiveness of the maritime sector.

The Council will work to promote maritime activities as a response to the need to address the challenges and pursue opportunities in the maritime industry.

It will help mobilise international efforts on developing solutions and reaping the benefits of the opportunities that the maritime industry presents.

The headquarters will be in Dubai and include representatives of maritime clusters from Asia, North America, South America, Africa, and Europe.

H.E. Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Ports, Customs & Free Zone Corporation in Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Maritime City Authority said “the Council is an advanced step towards fulfilling the joint aspiration of achieving the highest operational efficiency standards while upholding the mutual interests of members. We confidently look forward to the new Council’s contributions in enhancing the role and influence of Dubai and the UAE in shaping the growth of the world’s maritime sector, underpinned by sustainability, innovation, and knowledge. It provides an ideal platform for moulding the future of the maritime sector in line with the requirements for sustainable development.”
