ZF Marine Krimpen is to apply Subsea Industries’ Ecoshield coating to the nozzles and underwater components of its azimuth thruster units to reduce wear and tear.
- ZF Marine Krimpen vessels operate in inland waterways, such as Mississippi River where sand and silt are present leading to cavitation and corrosion of underwater parts.
- Ecoshield hard coating will protect thrusters from abrasive waters, increasing service life and reducing maintenance and operational costs.
- According to Ecoshield, the coating will not need to be reapplied, with previous case studies showing no need to recoat after more than five years of operation in harsh environments.
