Energy Efficient Pump Solution Gains ECO Design Approval

The Danish Technological Institute has tested and approved DESMI energy efficient pump solutions under the NSL series to accommodate European Union (EU) standards in compliance with the ECO Design Requirement

What Is The ECO Design Requirement?

The ECO Design Requirement is an act on energy-related products and intends to both promote and develop the use of energy efficiency equipment. It aims to reduce energy consumption and the impact of such equipment on the environment during its lifecycle.

How Do DESMI’S Pumps Meet This Requirement?

DESMI’s revealed that their seawater pumps have shown between 60-80% energy savings on ships travelling between ports.  Many systems are designed to operate in conditions which are only likely to occur 1% of the ship’s lifetime and hence consume far more energy than required.  However, DESMI’s pumps have been designed to operate both in challenging conditions but also to run at operating levels that better correspond to the ship’s actual load at a particular time.

Where Are The Pumps Applicable?

The pumps can be used with both freshwater and seawater, bilge and ballast water, fire-fighting and general service pumps, in addition to liquids with low viscosity such as diesel and lubricating oils.
