The European Commission has released a list of frequently asked questions on the EU’s Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulation to help shipowners, operators, verifiers and other stakeholders implement the legislation.
- EU MRV requires ships to monitor and report their verified CO2 emissions from January 1, 2018.
- The FAQ’s include details on ships covered by the regulation and exemptions, and gives information on the role of ports of call.
- It also outlines monitoring plans and accreditation of verifiers.
