Evoqua BWTS chosen for tanker newbuilds

Evoqua Water Technologies has been chosen by a South Korean shipyard for the supply and installation of its SeaCURE ballast water management systems.

  • Two 115,000 DWT crude oil tankers under construction for a Singapore-based ship owner will be fitted with the 3000m3h capacity BWTS.
  • SeaCURE uses electrochlorination to remove species from a ship’s ballast tank.
  • Evoqua says its system is low cost and time efficient to install as the electrochlorination part is installed in the engine room to manage the aft peak tank, removing the need for a second separate ballast water treatment to do so.
