Free-To-Access Shipping Cybersecurity Online Platform Launched

A new online platform has been launched that will enable ship owners, operators and the wider shipping industry community to discuss and combat cyber threats.

The platform, hosted via the domain Cybersail.org, provides information and alerts on the latest maritime and IT threats, focussing on both the technology and human elements by keeping users trained and up-to-date on the threats they could face.  It works by collecting, interpreting altering and advising on cyber threats that specifically target the maritime industry, providing discussion forums, automatic notifications on the latest alerts, article submissions and a knowledgebase that are is available to members.

Cybersail.org also offers cyber defence planning for information on how to proactively address cyber threats, IT risk assessment to enable understanding of cyber risks and weaknesses, and vulnerability testing to establish whether IT systems within a company are strong enough to handle an attack.

CyberSail.org was built Cyprus-based maritime IT service provider SOFTimpact. It was officially launched in March and membership is free and open to all members of the maritime community in both land and sea based roles.
