Martek Marine is to provide its Evolution emissions monitoring system to Sovcomflot’s new liquefied natural gas fuelled Aframax tankers.
- Evolution is system that monitors any number of marine engines onboard a ship and multiple gases, including NOx, SOx and CO2 using infra-red analysers.
- It is a plug and play solution that Martek claims to be ‘futureproof’, against future regulations so that no additional emissions reporting systems will need to be purchased.
- Martek was chosen by Hyundai Heavy Industries to provide the solution to fourteen 114,000 DWT ice-class IA Aframax tankers, worth US $240. The vessels are scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2018 and will be chartered to Shell.
