The Pacific Community has been selected to host the regional Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre (MTCC) for the Pacific region, according to the IMO.
- MTCC Pacific will be part of a network of five centres that include Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America to help mitigate the effects of climate change.
- MTCCs will receive €10 million from the EU and will provide leadership promoting ship energy efficiency technologies and operations.
- Regional MTCCs will deliver project milestones over a three year period to contribute to IMO’s efforts in implementing global energy efficiency regulations.
