Port of London implements Thames air quality strategy

The Port of London Authority (PLA), UK, is working on a new project to improve air quality around the Thames.

  • Research into shore power, emissions during trips and an inventory of all emissions from vessels on the river will be carried out as part of the project.
  • Project is carried out with the Mayor of London and Transport for London as part of the Thames Vision, which looks at how river use will increase over the next 20 years.
  • More trade, more passenger journeys and more sport and recreation along the Thames is expected says PLA chief executive, Robin Mortimer. Research is expected to be completed by end of September.
