Press Release: Prevention at Sea gains flag recognition for its Oil Record Book software

PRESS RELEASE: Maritime technology and risk minimisation company, Prevention at Sea, has gained recognition from the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) for its multi-award winning ε-ORB (Oil Record Book) software developed in conjunction with the Liberian Ship Registry.

“I am really pleased that the BMA is ready to provide the required approval to ship operators using our ε-ORB software as per its guidelines provided by the Electronic Record Keeping Systems Bulletin #173,” said Petros Achtypis, CEO of Prevention at Sea.

“This is further proof that ship registries understand the value of this software as it is helps seafarers record accurate ORB entries ensuring transparency, credibility, and traceability,” he continued.

Founded in 2013, Prevention at Sea aims to help ship operators reduce risk to avoid incidents at sea which could lead to detentions, periods of off-hire, or costly fines.

“Ship management is very competitive with slim margins so any period of inactivity for a vessel, due to compliance issues, accidents or poor maintenance, can be extremely costly for a company,” said Mr Achtypis.

“Our inspectors are trained to spot things before they become serious issues, ensuring masters are aware and the actions required to rectify them. In this way, we can help keep vessels on-hire making money for the manager, charterer and owner,” he continued.
