Rolls-Royce to provide technology for new Antarctic cruise ship

WestSea Yard, part of Martifer Group, has signed a deal with Rolls Royce to equip Mystic Cruises’ newbuild ship with a range of technologies.

  • The Portuguese cruise company’s ship, MS World Explorer, will feature Rolls Royce Bergen main engines, auxiliary dual generator, low voltage AFE SAVeCUBE power electric system, automation & control system and Promas propulsion system.
  • Vessel is the company’s first expeditionary oceanic cruise ship to offer cruises in Antarctica and to ports not accessible by larger ships.
  • MS World Explorer is being built at the WestSea shipyard in northern Portugal and is expected to be completed by October 2018.
