SEA-Vista Launches Sixth LNG Eco-Tanker

SEA-Vista LLC (SEA-Vista), a joint venture between SEACOR Holdings and Avista Capital Partners, has christened and launched its sixth eco liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker at General Dynamics NASSCO’s yard in San Diego.

The Constitution is an LNG conversion-ready product tanker that features a number of fuel saving and efficiency enhancing technologies, such as an optimised hull, a ballast water treatment system (BWTS) and a MAN Diesel & Turbo slow-speed main engine.

This ship is the sixth of eight eco-vessels being built for SEA-Vista.  The ship was designed by DSEC, a subsidiary of South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).

The vice president and general manager of General Dynamics NASSCO says that the design of these ships is part of a revolution of American shipping with the construction of innovative, cost-saving and environmentally-sound vessels.
