Scheveningen, a district in The Hague, Netherlands, has installed a shore power connection at its harbour to allow ships to connect to electrical power while at berth.

  • Ship operators will be able to turn off their ships’ diesel generators and reduce air emissions and noise in port.
  • Six connection points are available in the harbour.
  • Department of Waterways and Public Works (Rijkswaterstaat) and the shipping companies Vrolijk/Jaczon and Van der Zwan were involved in the preparations for shore power under the Air Quality Action Plan in the municipality.
