Viking Line newbuild to feature ABB Azipod propulsion units

A new cruise ferry for Viking Line will feature ABB’s Azipod propulsion system and ABB’s electrical power generation & distribution systems and bow thruster motors.

  • Vessel will connect the port of Turku and the Åland Islands, Finland with Stockholm, Sweden. Azipod electrical propulsion benefit the quick turnaround time needed to navigate the archipelago.
  • The newbuild will feature liquefied natural gas engines and Azipod intelligent control systems, as well as advanced condition monitoring to optimise energy efficiency and maintainability.
  • Vessel will be built in China by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry and is expected to be delivered in 2020.
