Wärtsilä dual-fuel engines selected for tanker newbuilds

Wärtsilä has been selected to supply the engines, propellers, and fuel supply systems for four new dual-fuel tanker vessels.

  • Newbuilds will be able to run on both liquefied natural gas and diesel using Wärtsilä’s 34DF dual-fuel main engine .
  • Other Wärtsilä elements included in the order include a LNGPac fuel supply system, a Gas Valve Unit and a Controllable Pitch Propeller with HP nozzle. Equipment will be delivered to the yard in 2018.
  • Ships will be built for Swedish company Erik Thun AB at the Scheepswerf Ferus Smit yard in the Netherlands.
