Wärtsilä Transfers Shareholding in WinGD to CSSC

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) has acquired Wärtsilä’s 30% shareholding in Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. (WinGD).

WinGD will continue its development of two-stroke low-speed marine engines as an independent company. The transfer of shareholdings will allow WinGD to have increased access to CSSC to accelerate development of its two-stoke low-speed engines to meet the growing merchant shipping demands.

Working in close cooperation with CSSC, WinGD hopes that using their experience in engine design and development will be further improved by CSSC’s status in the market as a leading global shipbuilding conglomerate and the workhorse engine of the merchant shipping industry worldwide.
