15% decrease in CO2 expected from Maersk and Equate partnership

Maersk Line and Equate Petrochemical Company have signed a partnership agreement in Kuwait to reduce the emissions of CO2 from ocean transportation.

  • Agreement aims to reduce Equate’s CO2 emissions per container transported by 15% from 2017-2020.
  • Companies state they have already decreased CO2 emissions by over 35% from 2013-2016 through collaboration.
  • Improving vessel efficiency, optimising networks, utilising space and other best practises have been invested in to achieve emissions reductions.
