PRESS RELEASE: SEA Europe, the Shipyards’ and Maritime Equipment Association of Europe, appointed Benoît Loicq (BE) as the association’s new Director, responsible for Technical and Environmental Affairs. Benoît started in SEA Europe on 1 April, in replacement of Mario Dogliani.
Benoit has extensive professional experience on technical and environmental matters. Prior to joining SEA Europe, he spent 9 years with the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA) and worked on similar matters. Before that time, he worked for a Belgian Environmental Agency (MUMM). Benoit started his professional career as officer onboard Belgian gas carriers.
“I am very happy to welcome Benoît as new member of the team at SEA Europe”, said SEA Europe’s Secretary General Christophe Tytgat. “I know him very well since we worked together at ECSA. His thorough analysis of technical and environmental matters and his knowledge of the position and difficulties of other maritime stakeholders will undoubtedly facilitate cooperation and enhance mutual understanding on complex topics, such as greening of transport”.
“I am grateful for this exciting new professional challenge”, Benoît added. “I look forward to being part of an industry that is a key enabler in building greener and cleaner ships, in converting existing ships into environmental-friendly vessels and in producing equipment, technologies and advanced systems that contribute to making the shipping industry more environmental-friendly”, he concluded.
