Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has taken delivery of its latest newbuild eco ship.
The woodchip carrier, C.S. Bright, features environmentally friendly specifications, such as a rudder bulb fin for increased propulsion efficiency and low CO2 emissions. The ship is also designed with a shallow draft and a cargo hold that maximises capacity, enabling the efficient loading of wood chips. Low-friction hull paint is also used to minimise emissions and increase efficiency.
The delivery of the eco ship comes following MOL’s order in July for methanol-powered carriers as part of its overall environmental strategy.
Following its delivery, the ship is said to have departed to deliver a cargo of wood chips to Australia for Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd.
