Royal Caribbean’s latest and largest cruise ship will be 20% more energy efficient than its predecessors.
The Harmony of the Seas, an Oasis-class ship, features improvements in hydrodynamic design as well as a new type of engine. Other enhancements, such as the use of bubbles on the bottom of the ship’s hull to generate a cushion of air to lessen friction and energy consumption will also feature.
The 227,000 GT ship, capable of carrying 5,497 guests, is to make its debut at Southampton, UK, in May.
