Classification society Bureau Veritas (BV) has dramatically slashed structural computational and verification times required for ships with a state-of-the-art 3D digital model that directly links to BV’s entire VeriSTAR suite of calculation tools.
The intelligent parameters of the platform enables a detailed 3D model to be constructed of a proposed ship, reducing the time required to check the structure, the seakeeping and the stability of the proposed ship and floating offshore units.
The software design interface allows end-to-end calculation, meaning that no data has to be entered twice through all the design phases. It then facilitates construction by simplifying the order of steel cutting and forms a digital twin of the ship or unit and can be maintained in an as-is state for the life of the unit. This then facilitates easy decision to be made regarding repair, maintenance and conversion.
The difference in this new platform is the significant time savings, accuracy and the power of the model that reduces the need to create multiple data sets to use different tools for hull strength and stability for example. This platform will enable ship owners and operators, designers and offshore operators to move into the new digital era, saving time and maximising operational efficiency.
