Hydrogen Fuel Cell Battery Makes Russian Debut

A 5kW hydrogen fuel cell battery has been released by Ship Electric Engineering & Technology Institute (TSNII SET), a branch of Krylov State Research Center, Russia.  The battery cell has zero impact on the environment according the TSNII SET.

Ships can use conventional fuel when crossing the ocean before switching to the hydrogen fuel cell when approaching the ports’ water area. Fuel conversion technology requires very little effort and minimum special equipment is needed.  According to the research institute, R&D already completed by the Krylov Center is intended for creation of a fuel cell power plant. This R&D will be applied at the hydrographic research ship of Project 23340. The fuel cell power plant and the ship are under parallel development.
