Hornblower Cruises & Events’ twin screw flagship, Inspiration Hornblower, has received an installation of Thordon Bearings’ TG100 mechanical propeller shaft seals.
Hornblower chose Thordon’s TG100 seals as it needed a solution to prevent water ingress to the vessel, while reducing maintenance.
Thordon’s TG100 seal was developed for smaller ships operating water-lubricated propeller shaft bearing systems. It features hard wearing silicon carbide seal faces and elastomeric polymer bellows to ensure maintenance-free operation in both clean and abrasive waters.
The TG100 requires no spare parts within the first 10 years. Furthermore, it features an emergency seal that allows stand-alone operation, enabling the vessel to return safely to the nearest port without seal damage.
