DFDS has finalised the order of two newbuild freight RoRo ships that have been designed to increase efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
The ships will be built to a larger size in order to decrease unit costs and reduce the environmental impact per transported unit and comply with the latest Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) standards.
In addition, both ships will feature scrubbers to remove sulphur oxides (SOx) for compliance in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) and ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) as well as other energy efficiency technologies.
The two ships will be built by Jinling Shipyard in China for delivery in the beginning of 2019 and will be deployed in DFDS’ route network across the North Sea.
