Collaboration to Propel LNG Fuel Uptake in Singapore

ExxonMobil and Pavilion Energy Pte Ltd have joined forces to develop solutions for the bunkering of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other downstream developments in Singapore.

The collaboration comes following the release of ExxonMobil’s “Outlook for Energy: A View to 2040” that forecasts an increase of LNG as a supplement fuel rather than a replacement to current fuels.

However, as interest for LNG grows, one of the key barriers to uptake is the availability of the fuel and its infrastructure. ExxonMobil has therefore decided to work towards providing ship owners and operator with access to a range of fuel options that suit their specific requirements and comply with emissions regulations.

ExxonMobil will support Pavillion Energy in establishing LNG bunkering procedures, beginning with LNG bunkering from truck to ship deliveries, and will provide assistance with the safety and operational standards for LNG bunkering in Singapore.

Nancy Carlson, vice president of aviation and marine at ExxonMobil Fuels and Lubricants commented: “Our 40-year heritage in LNG and marine insights, alongside Pavilion Energy’s dedicated approach, can help us to meet our vessel operators’ growing demand for integrated marine fuel solutions. ExxonMobil is committed to ensuring that we continue to meet our customers’ requirements.”

The collaboration supports the LNG bunkering initiative of the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore, which aims to encourage LNG as a sustainable alternative fuel source.
