Seaspan Ferries Corporation has received its first liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuelled vessel, the Seaspan Swift.
The new vessel is the first of two dual-fuel ferries to be delivered to the company. It is expected to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions significantly and contribute to Seaspan’s commitment to environmentally-friendly shipping.
The ferry will undergo a number of regulatory inspections and crew training programs before entering operation on January 2, 2017. The second dual-fuel vessel, the Seaspan Reliant is near completion and is expected to enter into operation in early 2017.
