ABS has issued a Guide to assist with the practises and safety of LNG Bunkering.
- According to ABS, at the current time most LNG-fuelled vessel receive LNG bunkers on a relatively small-scale, usually through ship-to-shore basis by road tankers or dedicated shore side LNG tanks.
- Further infrastructure and new bunkering equipment and operational practises are therefore required to help grow and develop LNG-fuelled vessels according to ABS.
- This Guide has therefore been developed to outline the requirements for the design, construction and survey of LNG carriers and barges fitted with dedicated LNG transfer arrangements and intended to operate in regular LNG bunkering service.
- The Guide also addresses bunkering station safety.
