ECDIS supplier Furuno is to deliver 43 of its Sea Traffic Management compatible systems to be used in a maritime test bed.
- STM is a project that will provide vessels with data on other ships’ planned routes to help avoid congestion, navigate safely and improve planning and performance.
- Furuno will supply its technology to be used in a test bed of 300 vessels, 13 ports and 5 shore-based service centres for the STM Validation Project.
- STM project is funded by the EU and currently includes other ECDIS suppliers Transas, Wärtsilä SAM Electronics and Adveto.
