Gallagher Marine Systems has released an advisory on the US Coast Guard ballast water discharge regulations following type approval of three ballast water treatment systems.
- GMS lists certain practices that ships need to implement in order to comply with the ballast water management convention.
- It says that the USCG has been examining ballast water logs back to the vessel’s compliance date to verify compliance with these practices.
- GMS says that members are advised to ensure compliance or obtain an extended compliance date, keeping the record of this onboard the vessel.
