Singapore has issued a technical reference to help with the establishment of LNG bunkering facilities. Issued by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the government claims it is a standard that will provide the right technical framework for conducting LNG bunkering operations in the state.
The move is to ensure the country, which has established itself as a major bunkering hub, can give bunker suppliers the right conditions to operate safely. The Singapore government has been working closely with industry players to develop the country as a major LNG bunkering and gas trading hub, with the hope of it also becoming a leading LNG storage location.
An LNG bunkering pilot programme launched earlier this year by the MPA will begin using this new technical reference standard (called TR 56) to guide the implementation of operational protocols by current licensed LNG bunkering suppliers namely FuelLNG and Pavilion GAs
