Ecoslops progresses development of Antwerp fuel recycling plant

Ecoslops, the company that developed technology to recycle ship-generated hydrocarbon residues into marine fuels and light bitumen, has taken the next step towards establishing a new recycling plant at the Port of Antwerp.

  • Recycling unit will be at the site of ATCP oil refinery, a subsidiary of VTTI group in Antwerp that has a dedicated industrial unit for fuel storage and refining.
  • Next phase will involve ATCP and Ecoslops developing technical, economic, and regulatory studies to file building and operation permits. This phase should be complete by end of 2017.
  • Recycling plant will be capable of treating 60,000 tonnes per year of residues that will come from Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Antwerp.
