Non-governmental organisation, the Sustainable Shipping Initiative, has appointed new general manager, Tom Holmer, to strengthen the shipping industry’s sustainability agenda.
- Tom Holmer will be responsible for running the SSI and progressing its roadmap towards a sustainable industry by 2040.
- The new general manager has a background in social sustainability and has worked with the International Seafarers Welfare and Assistance Network and the ITF Seadarers; Trust. He also carries out consultancy work on sustainability issues with Public World.
- Alastair Fischbacher, Co-Chair, the Sustainable Shipping Initiative says Tom will play an essential role in helping the SSI to inspire change and create a sustainable industry, driving further engagement and increasing the SSI’s breadth of membership.
