ClassNK approves plan for Asian ship recycling facility

Tsuneishi Ship Recycling has submitted and received approval from ClassNK for a Ship Recycling Facility Plan in South-East Asia.

  • ClassNK’s verification indicates that the facility will be in line with the 2009 Hong Kong ship recycling convention.
  • This is the first application by a South-East Asian ship recycling facility that has been submitted to ClassNK and to comply with the convention from its planning stage.
  • Ship recycling facility will be constructed in Negros Occidental, the Philippines, and will be operated by Tsuneishi Group. ClassNK will conduct on-site inspection once recycling work commences.
