Hapag-Lloyd is to send three of its older container ships for recycling at yards certified for safe and environmentally sound recycling.
- The Deira, the Najran and the Sakaka, will be transferred to yards in China and Turkey for recycling.
- The environmentally friendly dismantling of these ships indicates that Hapag-Lloyd is continuing to implement the internal Ship Recycling Policy it adopted in 2014.
- The ships no longer fit with Hapag-Lloyd’s portfolio and will be recycled sustainably, as were 16 of its ships in 2105.
