ABN AMRO Transportation has concluded the world’s first financing for the installation of a ballast water treatment system on several vessels for its Danish client, Celsius Shipping.
- ABN AMRO says it is the first bank to finance BWTS for one of its key clients.
- Bart van Veen, Associate Director Transportation for North-Europe at ABN AMRO says this is a landmark step for the company as it shows it support its clients in pushing a sustainable shipping agenda.
- Ballast water convention will enter into force on September 8, 2017. The IMO’s goal is to have a BWTS on board all vessels by 2022.
