ABS grants AIP of dual-fuel powered ship

ABS has granted Approval in Principle for a dual-fuel design concept.

  • Design by Algoship Designers alongside CleanShips LLC of Stamford can accommodate multiple engine types and Type-C or membrane containment systems for liquefied natural gas fuel.
  • Design concept vessel will be known as Seatransporter-D and can be used in Emission Control Areas to meet emissions requirements.
  • Current vessel is 38,000 DWT and has a 2,400m3 LNG fuel containment system that has a 100 day endurance according to ABS. Design concept is to be applied to Panamax, Ultramax and Kamsarmax sized carriers
