Atlantska Plovidba takes delivery of second bulker

Atlantska Plovidba in Dubrovnik, has taken delivery of the second in a series of two bulk vessels with a more environmentally sustainable design.

The AP Revelin will join AP Dubrava, which was delivered in July 2015. Both ships are built to the Green Dolphin 38 design to optimise fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Both ships also feature Thordon Bearings’ seawater lubricated COMPAC propeller shaft bearing system and Thordon Water Quality Packages (WQP) to provide clean and consistent supply of seawater to the bearings, eliminating oil pollution, even when the ships are docked downstream of the current shallow waters.

Atlantska Plovidba chose Thordon’s seawater lubricated system as it meets the United States Vessel General Permit (VGP) requirements, which is important as they trade in the USA. Other Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) had been considered but Thordon’s system was chosen due to its proven track record and 15-year wear life guarantee.

In addition, both ships feature bronze shaft liners and Thor-Coat corrosion protection systems.

The 38,7000DWT ecoship AP Revelin was delivered in January along with AP Dubrava, which has been operating perfectly for six months according to Atlantska Plovidba.
