Baleària’s Jaume II high-speed ferry is undergoing an upgrade to improve propulsion efficiency and reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
- Four main engines to be replaced to enhance energy efficiency by more than 10% and reduce nitrogen oxides emissions by 70% claims Baleària.
- Modernisation also aims to increase reliability and speed of vessel to maintain cruising of 35 knots.
- Work will be carried out at the Guadalquivir Shipyard, Spain, with the cost of new engines estimated at 5.5 million euros.
