The implications of the recent European Union referendum result in the United Kingdom (UK) became the focus of the closing panel session at the UK Chamber’s recent Ballast water forum held in partnership with Fathom Maritime Intelligence last week.
The UK Chamber’s Director of Policy, David Balston, outlined some of the implications posed by Brexit for shipping, the chamber’s priorities and the immediate way forward to the forum’s delegates
Topics discussed included crewing and visas, tonnage tax and the UK’s position as a finance and insurance hub for the industry.
In the wake of the Brexit, the UK Chamber’s CEO Guy Platten voiced to the shipping industry via a blog post that it needs to “do what it always has done – keep calm and carry on.”
