Caribbean university hosts new centre to promote low-carbon shipping

The University of Trinidad and Tobago is hosting a new centre as part of an IMO-run project that aims to promote technologies and operations for low-carbon shipping.

  • Centre comes under the Global Maritime Technology Cooperation Centre Network, which selects and unites technology centres into global network.
  • This global network focuses on supporting developing countries with the creation of national energy-efficiency policies for their maritime sectors.
  • The centres are part of a project funded by the EU and run by the IMO.
