Carisbrooke Shipping has selected Marlink to provide satellite communications equipment and coverage for its fleet of modern dry cargo and multi-purpose ships.
Carisbrooke’s choice of Marlink’s Ku-band VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) satcom will enable the company to improve ship operations by gaining greater access to data-centric applications and more available bandwidth. The VSAT application enables global coverage with unlimited L-band back up in addition to Virtual Private Networks (VPN) which facilitate remote control of IT equipment and systems on board to simplify management and increase reliability.
Furthermore, the system includes an XChange BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) solution, which comes ready with WiFi to enable crews to communicate with friends and family using their own smartphones, tablets and laptops.
All ships installing the Marlink platform will be able to automatically switch between satellites for seamless transition, remote access and streamlined administration.
The delivery is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
