Carisbrooke Signs 46-Ship Contract for Optimarin Ballast Systems

UK ship owner and management company Carisbrooke has signed a 46-ship contract for Optimarin’s Optimarin Ballast System (OBS) to be retrofitted on the firm’s fleet of 46 bulk and multipurpose ships.

Carisbrooke has stated that it chose the OBS due to its USCG current approval status, which is critical for its trading routes.  Furthermore, the modular nature of the system enables easy retrofit, in particular with ships that have small engine rooms and limited available space.

Optimarin has also secured recent orders from Atlantic Tankers and Sinopacific Shipbuilding Group, with ten units and nine OBS units confirmed, respectively.

The retrofit installations of OBS on the Carisbrooke fleet are schedule to commence in 2017.
