Class Society Launches New Stability Analysis Tool

DNV GL has announced the launch of a new stability analysis solution that increases hydrodynamic and stability analysis, enabling naval and offshore engineers to gain greater control, reduce time, costs and errors and give greater insight over data.

The Seasam HydroD 5 is a software for floating structures that require hydrodynamic and stability analyses in order to optimise safety in various environmental conditions.  Previously, hydrodynamic and a stability analyses have been performed by two separate models and software systems, which has been realised to be inefficient, more expensive, and can lead to errors or inaccuracies.

However, this new version 5 of Sesam HydroD can be run on the same model used for hydrodynamic analysis to enable naval architects and offshore engineers to run stability and hydrodynamic analysis in a user-friendly interface.  The updated model increases flexibility and control of operations thanks to its use on one common model.

Is also generates reports in an editable Word format and features reusable and tailored templates to simplify the design approval process for stability analysis with relevant authorities.  It also supports all main rule sets for intact and damaged stability, including IMO, DNV GL, ABS, MARPOL and NMA rules.

Are Føllesdal Tjønn, DNV GL Software CEO commented: “It is the first release of Sesam HydroD on our new software platform. This will improve the user experience and the efficiency of analysis.”

Torgeir Vada, Product Manager Floating Structures at DNV GL Software, added: “This is an important milestone in the development of Sesam HydroD. We have a very strong offering that will help our users perform stability analyses much more accurately and efficiently and give them unparalleled oversight of their projects.”
